Pastor's Message

Elk City UMC Family:

After gathering the latest information, careful consideration of all options, continued prayer and guidelines from the bishop, cabinet and conference…Elk City UMC has decided to move to online worship only beginning this Sunday. It is our great desire to continue to provide the community much-needed worship while doing our part to keep our most vulnerable friends and neighbors safe during all of this uncertainty.

We do know, however, that God IS certain and worthy to be praised! And praise Him we shall! Here’s how:

Beginning this Sunday, we will NOT physically meet in the church building. Instead, we will move to ONE worship service ONLINE at 11 a.m. We will live stream this service on our Facebook page (@ElkCityUMC), here. If you do not have access to Facebook, we will also live stream the service on our website at Services will be archived on this web page, so you will be able to go back and view services anytime. If you are unable to worship with us online and would prefer a copy of the service on DVD, please contact the church office at 225-0262 with that request. We would be happy to make you a copy!

This is as new for us as it is for you, so please allow some grace as we settle in with a skeleton crew, revised worship schedule and technology that hopefully works beautifully when we need it to!

Again, the church building will remained closed on Sunday mornings for your health, safety and protection. Please remain at home. We will reopen as soon as it’s safe to reopen!

During this time, we would still encourage you to give. You may mail your offering to the church at 720 W. Country Club Blvd. Or, there are several ways to give electronically:

1.) From our website at, click on the “Give Online” button in the right
column under “Contact Information.”

2.) Go to the following web page:

If you are new to online giving and need assistance, please contact the church office. We would love to help!

This will be our new normal until the time comes when we can safely worship together again as a church family. We pray for that day to come quickly! In the meantime, here we are with an opportunity maybe not to be IN community together, per se…but to be OUT in the community (safely) doing what we can to lift people up in these difficult times. Check on your home-bound friends and neighbors, make grocery runs and other needed errands, purchase gift cards at your favorite restaurants and stores for a later date…look around and see how we can still be the body of Christ in our community.

And join us for worship online this Sunday at 11 a.m.!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Scott and Pastor Ben

P.S. Another way to help during this time is with the Meals on Wheels ministry. April is our church’s month to deliver meals and we still have routes available! If you can help with this important ministry, please contact Pam at the church office at 225-0262. Thank you!
