New Day Band Director
Kevin Casebeer
Kevin is Elk City UMC’s New Day Band Director. He has led his merry group of musicians in contemporary music here at the church since 2011. His love of music began in the 3rd grade with piano lessons but when he found the guitar, he found his focus. He’s been playing ever since. An invitation led him to Elk City UMC’s New Day service and one Sunday the preacher asked, “What is God calling you to do?” He knew then it was time to join the praise band. Two years later, he was leading it. Kevin enjoys working with the pastors on song selection that compliments the Scripture and sermon. He loves incorporating new and current songs into the set list, and his choices always enhance the message. It’s important for him to do his best for the congregation and enjoys working with a staff that cares about their positions in the church just as much as he does. “We are all different parts of one body, complimenting each other to share the love of Christ. I believe we have something special at Elk City UMC.” Kevin values honesty and a good work ethic. He believes if anything is worth doing, it’s worth doing right with your best effort. When he’s not at church, he enjoys family vacations with his wife, Jeanna, and kids, Jessi and Kobi; listening to his favorite bands and recording music he’s written. In fact, he dreams of his own songs making their way through the recording process someday. “Going on the road with Casting Crowns wouldn’t be so bad, either!” Kevin’s favorite missions are Hungry Harry, which collects donations for HELP, Inc., Elk City’s food resource center, and working with the youth praise band, Arise. His biggest hope is for his kids to find happiness and success and to be content. All Scripture is meaningful to him, and he loves the process of finding meaningful music to move with it. Kevin says the trust and musical freedom he’s received here at the church is overwhelming, but the Lord works in mysterious ways as He has a hard rock guitar player leading a praise band that includes Bluegrass and Reggae into their lineup on occasion. He prays everyone finds their answer to the question, “What is God calling you to do?”
