Maxine Jackson

Maxine has been watching, feeding, changing, rocking, reading and playing with our littlest disciples in the Nursery on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings for over 40 years at Elk City UMC! She loves working with kids of all ages. “They love you and you love them, and you get to watch them learn and grow over the years.” She enjoys being at church, being a good steward for Jesus and working with her partner in crime, Patsy, who’s been her teammate from the start. Maxine values being on time, helping anyone she can and being a good mentor to the kids. When she’s not at church, she loves to read, sew and watch some good tv. Maxine is passionate about and has volunteered countless years to Elk City’s Christmas Baskets ministry, which boxes and delivers food to families needing a little help around Christmastime. Her favorite Scripture is Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Maxine says her biggest hope, dream and prayer is to live a good life and to be able to retire one day and travel with her sister.
